MEM THICK COATING lmf is a high-quality, solvent-free bitumen-latex thick coating for basement waterproofing up to 7 mm. Highly elastic, 1-component and fiber-reinforced. Suitable for basement walls and foundations, for old and new buildings. Creates a permanent seal against soil moisture, non-pressing water and standing leachate. MEM THICK COATING lmf is a de-icing salt-resistant, rot-resistant and crack-bridging, polystyrene-filled, plastic-modified thick coating and works optimally together with MEM PANZER-FLEECE.
application
MEM THICK COATING is a one-component, polystyrene-filled, plastic-modified bitumen thick coating for the permanent sealing of components in contact with the ground in accordance with DIN EN 15814 and DIN 18533 Part 3.
Suitable for sealing the following water exposure classes:
o W1-E: soil moisture and non-pressing water
o W3-E: Non-pressing water on earthen floors
o W4-E: Splash water and soil moisture on the wall base as well as capillary water in and under walls
On all common masonry such as sand-lime brick, aerated concrete, aerated concrete, concrete, lime and cement plaster etc. as well as on older sealing slurry and bitumen coatings.
Characteristics
MEM THICK COATING forms a permanently waterproof, crack-bridging, de-icing salt-resistant and rot-proof barrier layer against water penetration.
MEM THICK COATING contains polystyrene, is easy to process and stable.
Substrate preparation and processing
The substrate preparation is to be carried out in accordance with DIN 18533.
The substrate should be clean, free of grease, stable and free from release agents, dust, dirt etc. and free from burrs and projections.
Repair loose masonry and jointing or cavities with a suitable mortar, e.g. MEM GUMMI-MÖRTEL.
Open joints up to 5 mm can also be closed with a scratch coat of MEM DICKBESCHICHTUNG.
Applying a scratch coat to concrete substrates can reduce the risk of blisters forming through pores or cavities.
It is recommended to pre-treat the subsurface with a layer of MEM DICHTSCHLÄMME to level out any unevenness and to dry a damp or wet subsurface.
Pre-prime mineral substrates with MEM VORANSCHANICH according to the processing instructions.
Apply MEM THICK COATING in two work steps. Allow the first layer of coating to dry so that it cannot be damaged by the application of the second layer. Depending on the weather, this can take up to several hours. Then apply the 2nd layer and let it dry thoroughly, up to several days depending on the weather (see point 7/Technical data). It is essential to protect (cover) the coating from moisture until it dries.
A reinforcement layer must be embedded in accordance with the requirements of DIN 18533. To do this, after applying the first layer, allow the mass to dry slightly and fix the MEM PANZER-FLEECE to the coating with gentle pressure.
Before filling, the coating must be protected from mechanical influence by suitable protective layers in accordance with DIN 18533 Part 1, e.g. plates.
If possible, it is recommended to install additional drainage.
If you do not know the properties of your soil, ask your municipality or the building authority.
